MEET THE EDITOR
Knippenberg Literary is a freelance editorial service dedicated to improving authors and their craft.
Niki Knippenberg holds two prestigious graduate level certificates in Publishing from New York University and the University of Denver. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in English: Creative Writing from the University of South Florida.
Niki accepts projects of all lengths and styles including fiction of any genre, non-fiction, short stories, essays, query letters, articles, screenplays, resumes, blog posts, and newsletters. She specializes in working with first time fiction authors.
Knippenberg Literary offers a full range of editorial services:
- Publishing Consultation: Questions about publishing, writing, eBooks, or author platforms? Drop Niki a line; she's happy to get you answers.
- Manuscript Evaluation: You will receive an honest, detailed editorial plan and analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of your work. Yes, everyone hates this part.
- Platform Establishment: So you're a social media hermit? Understandable. Unfortunately, lack of social media savvy can hurt your chances of publication and post-pub sales. Niki can help.
- Copy Editing: This is editing for the grammar, punctuation, usage, syntax, and diction that your computer's word processor can't catch. All edits will adhere to the guidelines of the latest edition of the Chicago Manual of Style.
- Substantive Editing: Also known as developmental, this is a detailed "big picture" edit. The process will largely depend on your work, but can include plot development, character building, world building, dialogue revision, or restructuring. It can also include a deep line edit to improve style and readability. You may need to do some rewriting.
- Ghostwriting: This, again, depends on your goals and needs. It often means that Niki writes your book (in your voice and with your guidance) from your detailed outline--it's a kind of role reversal. You retain all authorial rights, and confidentiality can be written into your contract.
